Overview

Aloe ferox (Cape Aloe), native to South Africa, grows up to 3-5 feet wide. Its single stem can reach 10 feet in height, featuring a dense rosette of blue-green, lance-shaped leaves. An impressive candelabra-like inflorescence is topped by small flowers, usually 5-8 branches with spike-like heads. Its thick, fleshy leaves show reddish-brown spines, and may have a pale blue or red hue. Dead leaves form a petticoat on the stem, creating an aged appearance.
